Present

 1. Founder of SPT Advisory. A firm dedicated to providing independent technical advisory support services to public accountants in practice and also financial reporting technical  advice to management and directors of commercial and non-commercial entities.

 2.  Managing Partner of Eric SP Tan & Co., a public accounting firm in Singapore.

 3.  Associate Professor (Adjunct) with Nanyang Business School, Nanyang Technological University (Assurance and Auditing for the undergraduates)

Deloitte (July 1995 to August 2008)

More than 10 years of public accounting experience with Deloitte Singapore. Extensive experience in financial accounting advisory, capital restructuring and the audit of multinationals, local public listed and private companies in various industries.

Participated in the Deloitte Singapore Engagement Quality Assurance Review and also in the internal and external quality control monitoring and inspection process.

Performed forensic file reviews for Deloitte Singapore, Malaysia and China on various audit engagements,assisting the respective local Deloitte offices and the Deloitte Global/Asia Pacific legal counsel in developing risk and claims strategies.

Seconded to the Reputation and Risk Group in the Deloitte Global Office in 2003 and 2004, working with other Deloitte professionals internationally, specialising in reputation and risk related areas such as risk management,regulatory, ethics, independence, personnel and infrastructure security, forensic reviews and claims management.

TECHNICAL EXPERTISE

Retained by various local public accounting firms as their technical advisor on matters relating to financial reporting,audit and practice management issues(2009 to present).

Appointed as Hot and Peer Reviewer by various public accountants (2009 to present).

Appointed by ISCA as the Senior Quality Assurance Advisor (2013 and 2014).

Appointed by ISCA as the Singapore Qualification Programme Workshop Facilitator for the July 2013 and January 2014 semesters.

Seminar/Workshop program developer for:

• Revised 3-Days Practice Monitoring Program Regulatory course for ACRA/ISCA (2014).
• Practical Audit Workshop series (6-Days AWPI,7-Days AWPII and 5-Days SAR) for ISCA (2013 & 2014).
• Various Continuing Professional Education (CPE) seminars for ISCA (2009 to present).
• Various Professional Practice Development Program for CPA Australia Singapore Division (2009 to present).
• In-house core technical seminars for various local public accounting firms (2009 to present)
• Day One of the PMP regulatory course (2009) and Module 3 of the Directors Proficiency Program for ACRA (2012); and
• Corporate governance seminars for NTUC Trade Unions persons charged with governance (2012).

Recognized as the CPE Trainer for the Year 2011 by SAA GE, the training arm of ISCA.
